Getting started
- Install Mint Delivery Date from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a setup checklist.
- Add the picker to your cart: click Turn on the app embed on the app home. Your theme editor opens with the “Delivery date picker” embed switched on; click Save. It appears above the checkout button in your cart drawer and on the cart page. To place it yourself on the cart page, use Add the cart page block instead (or as well: the cart page then uses the block, the drawer uses the embed).
- Set your rules on the Delivery rules page. The preview at the bottom shows exactly which dates customers can choose right now.
- Texts, colours and the first day of the week are in the embed's or block's settings in the theme editor.
How dates are worked out
- Everything uses your store's time zone (Shopify → Settings → General). A customer in another time zone sees the same dates you would. Times of day are clock times: on a daylight-saving change day, a 14:00 cut-off is 14:00 on the store's clock.
- Cut-off: an order placed at or after the cut-off time counts as placed at midnight the next day. Example: lead time 1 day, cut-off 14:00 — ordered Monday 13:59 → Tuesday; ordered Monday 14:00 → Wednesday.
- Lead time in days: the earliest date is the order day (after the cut-off) plus that many days. With “count only open days”, closed weekdays and closed dates are skipped while counting: 2 open days from Friday, closed at weekends → Tuesday.
- Lead time in hours: the earliest date is the day the lead time ends (clock hours). Example: 48 hours from Monday 15:00 → Wednesday. With time slots, a slot can be chosen only if it starts after the lead time ends.
- Time slots (Pro) close when they start (or, with a lead time in hours, that many hours before they start). Each slot can be offered on chosen weekdays. The time is saved as, for example, 09:00-12:00.
- How far ahead: the latest date is today plus that many days. Closed dates can be single days or ranges, for delivery, pickup or both.
On the order
- The choice is saved on the cart as
Delivery date(YYYY-MM-DD),Delivery timeandDelivery method(Delivery or Pickup), and appears on the order under Additional details. For pickup orders the date is also inDelivery date. - With tagging on (Settings), each order gets a tag like
delivery-2026-10-06orpickup-2026-10-06, so you can filter the Orders page by date. If the date on an order changes, the app replaces its own tag; other tags are never touched. - The Deliveries page lists upcoming orders by date and time slot. Import recent orders adds orders from the last 60 days that already have a date (for example ones placed before the app could receive order updates). CSV export is part of Pro.
- Whether customers see the date in their order confirmation email depends on your notification templates (Shopify → Settings → Notifications); you can add the Delivery date there if it isn't shown. Optional — the app doesn't send emails.
Making the date required
- In the cart (all plans): with “Ask for a date before checkout” on, the checkout button in your cart page and cart drawer asks for a date when the cart has items to deliver. Express checkout buttons (Shop Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal…) and Buy it now on product pages don't go through that button.
- At checkout (Pro): “Require a valid date at checkout” adds a Shopify checkout rule (Settings → Checkout → Checkout rules) that checks every checkout — express ones included — against your rules on your store's clock: a missing, past, closed, too-soon or fully booked date or slot is rejected with your message, asking the customer to return to the cart. Adding to the cart is never blocked. Carts with nothing to deliver (for example only gift cards or digital products) are not checked.
- Customers using Buy it now haven't chosen a date, so with the checkout rule on they are asked to go back to the cart. Consider hiding the Buy it now button on product pages (your theme's product settings).
- Draft orders you send as invoices go through checkout too, and a draft order has no delivery date unless it has a “Delivery date” attribute — if you use draft orders for items you deliver, turn the checkout rule off while you do.
- The checkout rule follows up to 16 different times of day (cut-offs and time-slot times across delivery and pickup). The app tells you if your rules use more.
Order limits (Pro)
- Set a maximum number of orders per date (per method) and per time slot. Orders are counted as they arrive; cancelled orders stop counting.
- A full date or slot can't be chosen in the cart, and the checkout rule rejects it if a customer chose it before it filled up.
- Limits are updated as each order arrives, so two customers who check out the very last spot at the same moment can both get through. Set limits with a little room if that matters.
- Orders only count once the app can receive order updates from Shopify (the app home shows this).
Pickup (Pro)
- Turn on local pickup on the Delivery rules page; it has its own lead time, cut-off, closed days, slots and limits. Customers choose Delivery or Pickup in the cart.
- The app doesn't create pickup locations or shipping rates: set up Local pickup in Shopify → Settings → Shipping and delivery. With “Delivery method must match”, the checkout rule stops a customer who chose Pickup in the cart from checking out with a shipping option (and the other way round).
Troubleshooting
- The picker doesn't show. Check the app embed is on and saved in the theme editor. It only shows when the cart has items to deliver. If your theme's cart drawer is unusual, open the embed settings → Advanced → “Place before (CSS selector)” and enter the element above which it should appear, or email us and we'll find it for you.
- A date you expected isn't available. Compare with the preview on the Delivery rules page (it shows why each day is unavailable: closed, inside the lead time, fully booked…), and check your store's time zone.
- Orders don't appear under Deliveries. The app home shows whether order updates are connected. It needs Shopify's approval to read orders; until then the picker still works.
